An Educated Guess

The University of British Columbia
Vancouver, BC
Sep. 2011 – May 2012

I provided teaching assistance for several design and economics courses. These featured diverse curriculum designs: individual versus team based, assignment versus exam-based, and theory versus project-based. Responsibilities comprised: running classes, running tutorials, overseeing design teams, designing assessments, and (of course) marking. Concurrently, I participated in education workshops and conferences. I developed proficiency in different teaching styles, and more importantly, how to adapt these to different learners and their objectives. I continue to apply this care towards the professional development of my peers and reports.

Conducted a series of tutorials comprising gear dynamics and strength. Taught small class-sizes with interactive lesson plans. Evaluated culminate gearbox design assignments. Supported midterms and final exams.

MECH328: Engineering Design Project (2012)
Mentored several student teams engaged in a design project course. Cultivated student technical expertise and management skills. Conducted ongoing assessments.
